I decided for my project to build a trebuchet out of PVC pipe. I have never done anything like this before in my life but I like a little challenge and it turned out to be kind of fun. I started out with a silly slingshot made from a pen and hair elastic and ended up with something really cool.

I went from this homemade video:

To This:

and it throws water balloons!

  1. Very cool. There are a lot of potential uses for a trebuchet. What do you intend to do with yours? What are the advantages that a long-distance launcher can provide you in a time of need (aside from balloons)?

...I'm thinking seed bombs! (I'm actually working on these myself right now)

If you like that idea, you'll want to identify and isolate easy-to-grow local veggies with low nutrient need/high nutritional yield. Then come up with a mix of soil to encase the seeds and convert this baby for agriculture.

You could "plant" and are and document it's progress - though the optimal season may have passed. Nonetheless, you can exhibit the device, video, plans, seed bombs, and research.

You'll also want to refine it for greater distance, and probably add a counter weight and trigger to reduce the physical effort required to propagate your fields.
